OUTCAST 1883

OUTCAST’s publishing date is forecasted for 2020 and is set immediately following WIDOW. It touches on the orphans of the west, the African Americans on the Pullman cars and the continued prejudice against women, doctors, and Native Americans.
Flats Junction has one problem that persists: someone doesn’t want the Native Americans around. And then there’s the issue that half the people don’t like doctors, even as an incurable illness reappears. And no one has discovered the identity of the town arsonist, just as vandalism to the community reoccurs over and over again.
Told from tumultuous viewpoints of three women – a tinsmith, a housekeeper, and a grocer – OUTCAST dives into what it takes to truly understand oneself and how to find a place in a community filled with mistrust.
Imagine becoming a physician in the most exciting, pivotal time in medical history in the 1860’s and 70’s! Patrick Kinney must navigate everything from his Irish heritage, the Boston slums, and the trials of moving west. He arrives in Flats Junction at a pivotal time of the town’s existence, hoping to carve out a practice. And Aunt Bonnie becomes less a rock and more a burden along the way.
MEDICINEMAN 1876

Become a doctor? Why? It’s not a profession, nor a respected trade. And there’s no money in it. Aunt Bonnie Kinney believes her nephew Patrick is a fool, wasting his chance for success in America by chasing such dreams.
